About Catherine Smith
Catherine Smith, ARNP, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner who provides primary care for adults at Zimmer Medical Group. She is committed to evidence-based, culturally competent care and to building long-term relationships with her patients and their families.
Catherine earned her Master of Science in Nursing, with a Family Nurse Practitioner specialty, from Chamberlain University in 2016. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kaplan University, where she graduated summa cum laude, and began her nursing education at Galen College of Nursing in St. Petersburg, graduating with highest honors.
Before joining Zimmer Medical Group, she worked as an internal medicine primary care provider at ChenMed in Largo and MyCare Medical in Lutz, caring for adults with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, COPD, heart failure and other chronic conditions alongside everyday acute illnesses. She has also practiced as a hospital-based cardiac nurse practitioner in St. Petersburg, in skilled nursing facilities, and in pain management.
Her nursing career began at the bedside, with years in intensive care, cardiac catheterization, vascular procedures and surgical recovery, and cardiology remains a particular passion. Catherine is nationally certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, is licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Florida, and is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Outside the office, she enjoys hiking, swimming, biking and kayaking, and she loves animals.
